Why we ride — The movie about passion
The author asks: Why we ride? Not “Why they ride?” nor “Why you ride?”, but we and “we” is very important here. Now I’ll try to tell you why.
Almost a year ago I’ve met my neigbour and start talking about what he did over the weekend. Then he started a story, long story of a motorcycle trip. And you know what? At the beginning I wasn’t into it. I thought it was boring, then I looked at him. His face was shining, eyes were full of stars, his face was all happy and his body language was all joy, fun and freedom. Then I realized that there is something more than just control over horsepower.
The man and the machine
I do not want to sound pathetic. I do not want to play an expert as I am on the opposite site of the learning curve. To be honest I am at the stage where I start to realize that there is a learning curve. But let’s get to the point and the relation with the man and the machine.
Riding a motorcycle is something that you can’t compare to anything. It’s totally not what your body, brain and mind expect. It’s just different despite the fact that this is pure mechanics and physical laws are ruling everythig there. It’s just different because your brain needs to learn to act differently. Riding a motorcycle at the very early stage is counterintuitive and you start doing it right when you start to trust your motorcycle.
Trust
You need to give faith, believe, invest some of your trust. And this is where it all starts. The moment when you counter-steer for the first time, go through the corner really fast (at least this is what you think), and hang on the egde of your fear this is when you join the global community of people that trust their machines.
Why we ride
Now take your time and watch at least this trailer, and look for those sparks in their eyes, smiles on their faces and think if you maybe want to join them and change “They” into “We”.
